What is Left to Do in DF?

Having checked off Teotihuacán my list. I’m going back to the NYT to tell me what to do next in Mexico City. Here’s my list.

Re-visit the Zócalo and go inside the National Palace to see Diego Rivera’s mural
Diego Rivera’s and Frida Kahlo’s house
I also missed some ruins near the Zócalo
Centro Artesanal: a large craft market
The [...]

Teotihuacán

First off, I want to say that I can’t remember the last time I suffered from a sunburn. Today, I climbed the Pyramid of the Sun. Despite my difficulty in climbing modern stairs, I was able to scale the third largest pyramid in the world. I guess in retaliation the Sun decided to burn most [...]

A day at the Zoo, originally uploaded by kimberlymunoz.

What you can expect: Ashoka dinner with candidates for fellowship, interesting buildings and animals from the zoo.

Additional Mexico Pictures Are Up

Flag at the Zócalo, originally uploaded by kimberlymunoz.
My pictures from last week’s Turibus excursion are up. Unfortunately without flash, my pictures of the inside of the church at the Zócalo didn’t come out.

The Last Ten Days

I’m still in Mexico City but haven’t been updating due to a deluge of work. My job is keeping me happily busy with writing, research and translation. In addition, preparations for DC are also quite time-consuming because of my quest to make sure that my updated resume is flawless.
Also, I resolved to fully take advantage [...]

México DF Pictures!

Another set of pictures are up on Flickr.

MUSEO NACIONAL DE HISTORIA

The National History Museum/Castillo de Chapultepec was another great museum with lots of history. While the Anthropology Museum focused on the pre-Spanish cultures and artifacts, the History Museum takes a more modern perspective.
Aside from all the historical artifacts that are preserved at the museum, the place is an actual historical site. It served as military [...]

National Anthropology Museum

Today I went to Mexico’s National Anthropology Museum. After lots of small talk with the various taxi cab drivers on what to see in Mexico City, this place came highly recommended. For about $5.00
admission, you can spend hours looking over Mexican artifacts and not finish going through the entire museum
Right now, there is a visiting [...]

Michoacan Photos are Up

They can be seen on Flickr.

I went down last Friday to my grandparent’s house, where I learned about Pulque, a fermented drink my grandparents harvest. I also visited Quiroga, Carnitas capital of the world, and Patzcuaro, which had the best shrimp I have had in awhile.
