Spirituality For Kids Event

So last Wednesday, my roommate, Michelle Button, was the DJ for an event. I wasn’t sure what it was until I went. It turned out to be a fundraiser at the Papalote Children’s Museum. Unfortunately, I didn’t bring a camera, but there are professional pictures at Cuartoscuro.
Spirituality for Kids is an organization that teaches high-risk [...]

Bodas de sangre

One of the things I expected when I came to Mexico City was more Spanish films. If there’s one thing that my Spanish classes have taught me, it is an appreciation for Spanish cinema. Introduction to Spanish Literature gave me Lorca’s La casa de Bernarda Alba and my Post-Franco Spanish Cinema and Literature class introduced [...]

National Anthropology Museum

Today I went to Mexico’s National Anthropology Museum. After lots of small talk with the various taxi cab drivers on what to see in Mexico City, this place came highly recommended. For about $5.00
admission, you can spend hours looking over Mexican artifacts and not finish going through the entire museum
Right now, there is a visiting [...]

Michoacan Photos are Up

They can be seen on Flickr.

I went down last Friday to my grandparent’s house, where I learned about Pulque, a fermented drink my grandparents harvest. I also visited Quiroga, Carnitas capital of the world, and Patzcuaro, which had the best shrimp I have had in awhile.

Cheap International Calls, Anyone?

I know I am going to miss my friends and that calling is a good way to keep in touch, but prepaid cards aren’t really meant for international calls. Right now I’m using [Telcel ](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telcel), but the rates for international calls aren’t that great. It takes forever to assure my dad that I am safe [...]

In Mexico City

I have just finished settling in to my first day in my apartment in Condesa. I got into Mexico this Friday and went around Michoacán to visit family I hadn’t visited in fifteen years.
I will post pictures and commentary soon.

To start this blog, I’m starting in Los Angeles. Or to be more accurate, Claremont.
I’m currently planning the details of my trip to Mexico City and I am planning visits Morelia and New York City. I plan on posting pictures of my trips soon as they occur.
